Show -- 'J t TiP 7t f ' President McKay Offers Counsel and Dedicatory Prayer - - A crowd of more than 800 people thronged the new LDS Indian chapel, Sunday afternoon at 2 p. m., to hear Presi- dent David O. McKay and Elder Spencer W, Kfmballl dedicate the building as a house of f worship, a house of learning, and a house of recreation. Attending the services was President David O, McKay of of T the Chundh of Jesus Christ Latter-daSaints who offered the dedicatory prayer. Other dignitaries on the stand included Mrs. McKay: Elder Spencer W. Kimball of the Council of the .Twelve, and Mrs. Kimball: Dr. and Mrs. George Boyce; President Vernal Willie and President Glen M. Bennion, of North and South Box Elder stakes, respectively; Dr. Giles, a friend of president McKay, formerly of Argentina; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Tom- -- y maney and Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Featherstone of Intermountain school faculty; Mayor C. Horsley; Patriarch John P. Ldllywhite; Patriarch S. Norman Lee; Patriarch Nephf J. Valentine, Wayne A. Jensen, contractor and .builder of the chapel; Rudger Price and J. Oleen Palmer of South stake presidency; Elbert R. Beecher and J. DoLos Thompson of North stake presidency; Boyd K. Packer, former coordinator of LDS Indian affairs in this area; and coordiDon Hunsaker, present nator, who conducted the services. Dr. Boyce Speaks , Hunsaker introduced as a welcome guest, as this was his first public appearance since his reDr. cent illness. In speaking, Boyce told tihe Indian students that one of the most important steps in growing up is accepting a Teligion. He also said that he has been impressed by the messages of good will and prayers from friends and students of all faiths during his illness. 'President Vernal Willie told of the first recommendations and counsel given regarding chatihe erection of an Indian pel which was given toy President George Albert Smith at the time the government turned the former Bushnell hospital over to the Bureau of Indian Affairs for the proposed boarding school. In the remarks of Boyd K. Packer, he related incidents of the beginning of the organization of the LDS Indian students with only six members in the first group of students arriving at Intermountain school.
