The hush over Brigham City is almost embarrassing this week after the tremendous amount of activity that took place here last Friday and Saturday Peach Days of 1950 in Brigham City. The annual affair was acclaimed widely by the thousands of people who attended the two-da- y event, and especially loud were the plaudits for the gigantic parade which was handled this year by Dee Glen Smith. of the D.M. Mason, secretary-managChamber of Commerce and W. Vosco Call chairman of the entire celebration as president of the Chamber, have been the driving turbines behind Brigham Citys biggest yearly celebration. Both Vosco and Mace have many a pat on the back for the committees that handled all of the various activities. While the coronation ball, which was .under the direction of the Jhnior Chamber1' of Commerce and the parade were the highlights of Peach Days, all of the other events, the golf exhibition, the Box Elder high school-Jorda- n football game, the square dancing, the extravaganza, the flower show, window displays, fruit displays and all of the other features were well received. . Now that the committees have released a long low sigh1 of relief at having the celebration over, it isnt too early to start looking forward to next years centennial celebrations. The 100th birthday of any person, community, or pet dog is always a mighty important event. And next years is the 100th birthday of Brigham City and Box Elder county for Brigham City was the first settlement in the county. , , Now is the time to start thinking about and making arrangements for the. greatest tind most colorful event in the history of - er . . THANKS! JOHN HADFIELD (Paid Political Adv.) d s months later. Unionism has done much for the worker procured higher wages, shorter hours, improved working conditions but, in many instances, unions have taken a wrong tarn somewhere along their line of progress. In such cases, as in this U. S. example, a union becomes a weapon against the worker. The union boss becomes, in truth, a dictator with all the powers a dictators title implies. Incurring a union leaders displeasure means the breadline or a change of trade. It is this despotism which forces workers to strike when jhey would rather stay on the job, when they are happy about wages, hours and conditions . . . then truly a union becomes a weapon against the worker, an weapon wielded by the union There's no heller bourbon ! Already the Sons of Utah Pioneers have stepped out with plans for a Pioneer Memorial building to be dedicated up Box Elder canyon during the centennial year. A centennial celebration in Brigham City with its colorful history and illustrous characters who made history here codld be terrific. A pageant could be produced depicting activities of the early pioneers in the county, the driving of the Golden Spike, Jim Bridger sailing down Bear River. There !s no end to the possibilities. There job bright was the time on a picnic when you fell off a rock and sprained your ankle and oh, yes, the auto accident that put your arm in a sling for a couple of weeks; but nothing really too serious. Dont count on it! Every year 32,000 workers are killed, over 2,100,000 injured m accidents. But remember somewhere during every two-da- y holiday, 17J workers will be accidentally killed and 15,000 injured, many maimed for life. One of these could be you. A large part of these casualties will be caused by traffic accidents, but drownings falls, firearms, poisons, burns and other accidents will help to swell the total. . 11,1 Coming back Monday?
