The battle was slated to be a pitchers duel between Tate and McConnell, but due to the wind being more favorable to Mel Marlow, Overly started his veteran left hander. Marlow kept things very well under control through the first six innings as he hel d the Peaches scoreless, but he had been warned three times to keep his right foot on the rubber. The fourth time he was called for creeping, there was no one on base to get the benefit of the balk, but Marlow pitched in with a few nasty words to base Umpire Bush and the man in black booted him out of the game. The score at this point was 4 to 1 in favor of the visitors from the South. The Peaches finally pushed another counter across the plate in the last half at the ninth against Tate, who went into relieve Marlow in the seventh, but that was the best they could do. Next Wednesday, the Peaches will play hosts to Provo Timps. The game will be under the sponsorship of the Civic Improvement club of Brigham City, who will have as Lheir guests the citizens of Perry. The pitchers for Grouse Creek were Lyman Kimber, Mervin Tanner. Simpson and Doyle Keith Tanner. The paik Valley school team went along and played the Grouse Creek school boys but came out on the short end of the score by four runs, the score being 14 to 10. Lee Kimber drove out a home run for Grouse Creek with one on base. It was the first game for the Park Valley boys and they were handicapped of their regular players being unable to make the trip. The new Brigham City golf course is looking better every time I look at it. The greens are already in shape and the grass is coming up wonderfully all over the course. It should e ready for open play by July 1. It will open officially on the third with a tour of the course with an exhibition foursome. Leading the exhibition game is Ernie Schneiter, professional from the Ogden Country club. Ernie has given much of his time to the making of Brigham Citys municipal golf course. Dean Candland, local pro will also compete in the game. The other two players have not been chosen as yet. tip-to- Bill Johnson, playing manager the U. of U. golf team, fired a neat 71 in the East vs. West of team match Sunday in N.C.A.A. competition.
