A thirty-year-ol- d, third-cla- ss post-offic- e building, for a first class post office Theres something for everyone in the Brigham City area to get his teeth into. What does it take? Is it up to us to let the post office department know were overdue for a new building? Should we start howling? Does it take political pressure? If so, this is an election year, remember. And election years before the election are a good time to exert political pressure. No need of being too idealistic about this thing. If it takes a louder howl than the next towns, or a stronger political pressure than the other fellows, to get what we deserve and what is coming to us, then lets howl and press! Theres the grazing service, the Agri! cultural Adjustment administration, the federal housing, the forest service, the public welfare office, the U. S. employment service, the internal revenue department, armed forces recruiting services and many others that have, do or would want office space in a federal building, here in the county seat of Box Elder county. And they should have it. Brigham City has a terrific office space shortage right now, and a good share of the overflow is represented in the number of federal agencies occupying offices. They should have their own building. Lets see if we cant get it a new post office and federal building! This Is The Year Mark our word for it, 1948 is the year the Box Elder Chamber of Commerce catches fire, takes hold, digs in, really gets going. Thats from the crystal ball, and as subject to revision as most crystal ball predictions, but from where we sit it looks like its true. The Chamber, ever since weve been observing it, anyway, has been an wide-awa- ke organization. But towns are like people they may always have good years, but some years just seem to be super. And were predicting a year like that for the Chamber of Commerce. Its interesting, if true, for everyone. It means better business for the town, and better business for the town is a pretty important matter to everyone in the territory, because it means higher wages, more substantial payrolls, better service, bigger opportunities, bigger contributions to all sorts First Ward Holds Honor Court Sun. Dear Committee: Often the time spent in shopping is- just so many minutes out of a busy day to do something that has to be done, as quickly as possible. And then, again, those few moments can be the one bright spot in an otherwise dreary day. During the holidays I went into the Reminder Office Supply to buy a particular kind of card and Mrs. Loverda Lee, a clerk, was helping me find it. It was at the time her sister was critically ill, and as I talked wdth Mrs. Lee I could see that she w'as near the point of exhaustion from lack of sleep and long worried hours. She looked so tired thkt I picked up a card at random and told her not to bother looking any more because I had found one that would be fine. But, although it certainly would have been easier for her to let me take the card and go, she insisted that she knew they had exactly the kind of card I wanted and she would find it for me. Thpy had been rearranging the stock and she wasnt sure just w'here to look, but she spent another ten minutes going through the boxes and drawers until she did find the card she wanted. Perhaps it was a little thing, cent card only a twenty-fivwas involved, but it did give me something to thing about. How like her it was to expend so much time and energy in doing something for me which she knew would make my day a little happier. I did appreciate her patience and kindness and the extra effort she made to please me. Sincerely, Elaine S. Ward, 87 North 4th East.
