Mormonhm in Massachusetts. Verv few of our readers are aware that the Mormons have missionaries at work in this state, and that they are making many converts. A Mormon conference was held on Cape Cod last week at which delegates were present from various parts of Massachusetts, all of whom reported that their churches were growing in numbers and influence. The only church of that denomination in this county is at Plainville, a flourishing village in Wrentham, near North Attleboro. Here they have a chapel and many zealous proselytes, most of whom are said to be intelligent mechanics, natives of Attleboro and Wrentham. Of course polygamy is not practiced in this state as it is in conflict with our laws. It is a startling fact that probably as many converts are being made to in Massachusetts as are being converted from it in Utah. Sharon Advocate. It was also celebrated by the Mormons, but in a different manner than by th.e Americans. As it happened to fall on Thursday, which is Endowment House day, i, e.. the day of the week (in which polygamous alliances are contracted, it was celebrated by an unusually largo number of these unlawful acts. .
