At a ' the j. Dr. E. special meeting of i - I B. SHIP IN HU THE EASJ , A. most unusual sight was witnessed on Main street .Tuesday afternoon when Bell Brothers, butchers, unloaded a carload of prime beef that had just been received from Omaha. .Unusual, because perhaps it is the first time. that such a shipment has Been received here, and' surprise ing when it is known that there are great many fat cattle here animals ready, for the block. The meat dealers here do not but they say that the people who own these local cattle are asking such a price for them that it is cheaper by a cent a .pound at least, to ship the meat in from Omaha and other eastern points. The imported meat, they say, is com fed and of the best quality, afid.it must be copfessed - that it looks it. , , The intimation is plainly given that these shipments will continue uptil such time as the Cache producers feel; they can make n price on their animals that will enable the butcher to handle .them at a profit. In 'the matter of pork, it is said that the condition was even worse until 30 days ago. The statement was made on Tuesday that the butcher could ship in pork in prime side cuts, in which there was no waste at all cheaper than he could buy the dressed hog here and takall. the waste. It is a most undesirable condition and to us it .seems a proper consideration of matter for-th- e the Boosters Club. Producer and buyer should beagottep-togethe- r and a plain understanding 'had. Some men have' complained lately that they have fat animals for sale and that local butchers will not look at them, and the butch: er$ on the other hand say that it is useless, to go out after beef here as the farmer does not seem to know exactly what he wants for his animals, and then when pinned down wants altogether too much. ' '(Continued on page four.) tions of tjie world where the raiu? fall is the least bit uncertain, where drouth affects the development of the farms where there are worn-ou- t soils and where insufficient rainfall makes it neeessary to adopt special methods of tillage and special crops, there will be plenty of time to enjoy the Exposition, the band concerts, Alberta pipers band contest, ...fireworks, drills by mounted police hoy seouts, etc.-- Excursions into the surrounding country, the tilly age demoflstratios, power demonstrations, etc.Opportunity will be given atthe dose of the Congress for those who desire to make extended excursions through ' the western provinces of Canada to do so at a low .rate of fare.!
