Hi tmm Following a discussion of livestock prices, federal grazing fees, andcost of production conditions, the Trust Lands Administrations Board of Trustees - during its April Board Meeting - approved the agencys recommendation of maintaining the TLA grazing fee for FY 2004 at the same level as FY 2003. The fee is $2.05 per Animal Unit Month (AUM) plus a five-cenoxious weed fee. An AUM is the amount of forage necessary to sustain a 1000 lb. animal or its equivalent for one month. TLA administers 1,491 grazing 201,078 permits representing AUMs statewide. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management reduced its grazing fee to $1.35 per AUM. The Board further approved the TLA staffs recommendation to adopt rule changes that will clarify the terms and conditions under which Modified Grazing Permits may be issued along with creating the requirement for grazing permit holders to put appurtenant stock watering rights to beneficial use in order to avoid forfeiture of Trust Lands water rights. Kim Christy, assistant director -Surface, indicated that this requirement will be subject to the terms and conditions of the permit with respect to season of use and stocking rates. This rule change will clearly give TLA added protection from the potential loss of valuable water rights, to according Christy. The rule has also received support from livestock industry leaders. nt (719) JohnOer 722-204- 1; itW free: ferre rt 0 (Northglenn) Weather (W) At&, Denver Central 4849 Bannock Street Downtown 1450 Glenarm Place 80 44 pc Canada thistle Diffuse knapweed Dyers woad Perennial sorghum, spp., including by not limited to Johnsongrass Leafy spurge Medusahead Muck thistle Quackgrass Russian knapweed Scotch thistle Spotted knapweed Squarrose knapwed Hoary cress (Whitetop) Yellow starthistle In addition. loosestrife, Purple are Russian olive, and Saltcedar declared noxious weeds in Uintah County and thereby come under the provisions of the Utah Noxious Weed Act.
