Mayor William Kremin signed the proclamation on behalf of the city. Scott Snyder, current president of the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo Committee, presented the fiscal needs of the rodeo to the council. An additional $56,000 is needed to guarantee prize money and quality stock sufficient to draw top name competitors to the rodeo and to keep it among the top 50 rodeos in the country. The committee is requesting these funds from Uintah County, Naples and Vernal City. Council member Alan Mashbum commented that remaining in the top 50 would be a benefit to the city as the best rodeos draw contestants and tourists not only from all over the U.S. but also from other countries, especially Australia and Brazil. . This ordinance outlines considerations the city must make, and steps property owners can take, if the city takes an action that will remove property from the owner or in some way devalue the property. This ordinance falls short of eminent domain and is designed to prevent court actions wherever possible. Any citizens who feel their property has been devalued because of actions taken by the city can use this ordinance to open a dialogue with the mayor or with the city manager if the mayor so chooses. Pearson also presented a request for an amendment to the Vernal City Municipal Code concerning fences erected around private homes. The amendment would prohibit the erection of unsightly fences made of non fencing materials such as old pallets and would require the use of materials specifically manufactured as fencing materials. Bail was set at $36,480. Deputies from the Uintah County Sheriffs Department arrested a Vernal couple early Monday morning for domestic violence and possession of drug charges. Deputies Kevin Orr and Derek Urban responded to a report of an assault early Monday Morning. Assisted by Vernal City Officer Ben Murray, mose involved in the incident were located.
