Speaking of the hot lunches, I d like to meet Mrs. Golda Davis who prepares them. She Ik doing a big job and doing it well. I learned the other day of some of the vast quantities of food which Is prepared each day for our students. Do you know, they use about 45 loaves of bread a day, 30 pounds of butter In the on and sandwiches. cooking (Lately they have been rolling strips of toasted bread in butter. It Is very good.) They use about 200 pounds of potatoes at a meal, or 60 pounds of beaus, 50 pounds of carrots, 10 pounds of lard, 30 pounds of dried milk and 50 or- dinary cans of canned milk. Picture 21 gallons of canned 0 cans of peas or peaches or 50-6- corn. Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Peterson have eleven other workers who help them. They are a Jolly bunch but quite intent on their work. They prepare the food in the kitchens at the Union school and bring It up In cans. Today for lunch we had a bowl of noodle soup, a strip of wholewheat bread soaked in butter, a cup cake, a cup of hot chocolate and half a grapefruit. It cost us each the mighty sum of 3e. No wonder some would people like to board here. I might add that everything Is kept scrupulously clean. Mrs. Mary Otmenlsh supervises the preparation of all hot lunches In the northern part of Utah county.
