On the North American Continent, where nearly everything that a person uses is produced by other people in other places, and where the products of ones labor are. used by other people in other places, society has reached the highest emplexity yet known. A corporation is an organization of the efforts of a group of people toward some objective, usually economic with the benefits accruing to the stockholders in the corporation in proportion to the amunt of stock that each owns. Until now, the production and exchange of goods and services in this society have been affected almost entirely by the competetive struggle for private gain, and with only minor direct consideration being given to the quality of goods and services produced, and even less consideration to the common welfare. Sporadic attempts have been made to promote cooperative enterprises in various lines of endeavor and in limited areas of the Continent. But none of these have been able to make more than meagre headway in a society where the dominant controls are opposed to such economic patterns. Any cooperative plan, to Lie effective, must embrace a and area, and include all enterit is inherently doomed within that otherwise, area; prises to failure." Technocracy Inc. points out that the whole Continent of North America is such an area, and that the greatest welfare of all citizens on this Continent can be obtained only by the operation of the whole Continent on an efficient cooperative basis, wherein all will contribute according to their ability and all will benefit equally." In order to carry out this cooperative plan. Technocracy Inc. makes use of the corporation setup for the sake of efficiency of operation, involving a minimum expenditure of energy and human effort, and a minimum destruction of irreplaceable natural resources. The entire operation of the Continent will be conducted as a single corporation, with all citizens as stockholders, each having one share of stock, and each citizen contributing an which is equal amount of time to its operation. Thus we have combined here the beneficial features of both the cooperative plan and the corporation,, so far as the common welfare is concerned. Each citizen will give of his effort according to his ability and talents, and all will share alike. Technocracy is the expansion of the cooperative plan of production and distribution to a Continental scale. And the result will be the highest standard of living that the world has ever known. Potential abundance is at hand. Technocracy is the plan for its production, and distribution to all of the citizens of North America. Technocracy invites you to investigate it.
