Such were the scenes as described by Principal B. M. Jolley on his return home from his recent Educational trip. Mr. Jolley and his party visited schools at Phoenix, El Paso, San Antonio, and Houston, enroute to the convention city, New Orleans. New concret roads, massive bridges and towering public buildings throughout the State of Louisiana stand out in mute testimony as to the ambition and devotion of the late Huey Long to the land of his birth. A Stroll Thru Old Streets A stroll through the Vieux Carre gives one a weird feeling, not soon to be forgotten, according to Mr. Jolley. Our walk starts at Canal Street on the famous Rue the known throughout Royale world for its shops, antique stores, and many sites of historical interest. The site of the home and office of the famous Doctor Antomarchi, maker of the Napoleon death mask, was visited. He was the Emperors personal physician, and later practiced in Niew Orleans. On Bourbon street is the famous old historic Absinthe House, built about 1750. For a time Jean Lafitte, famous baratarian pirate, frequenced this old bar. General Andrew Jackson and Lafitte are believed to have planned the battle of New Orleans here. make-believ- Dob Orton to Play At Summer Dances For Scera 190 pounds of grits, 7,000 pounds of meat for grillades, 100 pounds of onions for seasoning, 60 pounds of flour to thicken 80 gallons of New Dance Pavilion; Many New Improvements Announced gravv, 8.000 rolls and 150 pounds By Board of bn"er, 150 gallons of milk, for the coffee, 8,000 small leaves of At the regular March meeting sugar, ISO pounds of rice and five of th Scera Board of Directors gallons of marmalade. The entire plans were tentatively formulated for the summer recreational program. A contract lias been signed with Mr. Dob Orton for his famous eleven-piec- e band to play for dances on the new pavilion, completed last summer. The dances will be held each Friday night during the summer months commencing May 28th and continuing until after Labor Day. Mr, Ortons orchestia has been without question, the most popular dance orchestra in Utah county the past year He is at present completing one of the most successful dancing seasons at the Utahna that has ever been held in Provo. Besides playing at the Scera Dance Pavilion, he will again play at the popular Arrowhead resort. In order to finance the hiring of Mr. Orton's orchestra it will be necesasry that we get pledges of at least 300 couple to attend the dances. We are certain that it should be easy to find this many who will appreciate coming to a beautiful place where they can enjoy clean dancing with their friends. The dance floor and grounds are to be greatly improved. Over 1,000 petunia plants have been ordered as well as 200 rose bushes, and many shrubs.
