There are possibilities for broad and sweeping changes in our educational system. Both the Superintendent, Mr. Parker and the clerk urged the board members to become informed and involved in order to make the best decisions regarding the education of the youth of the state. Citizens were also urged to become informed on these issues. Citizens were encouraged to read, ask questions, and talk with local and state leaders. People should become informed so that they can pass their opinions on to the legislature. In other business before the board, most of the members of the senior class from South Rich attended the meeting to ask the board to reconsider its action which eliminated senior trips. Many parents were also present to support this request. After much discussion the board passed a motion to reconsider the present policy at the January Board meeting. At that meeting a decision will be made to change or keep in place the ban on overnight trips. Board members present were Bill Hopkin, Glade Hatch, Mike Madsen, and Merrill Muir; Superin-tendaParker; Trish Cornia; and numerous visitors. Stuart Wamsley was excused. Minutes of the October board meeing were read by the clerk and approved without correction. Bills in the amount of $88,717.14 were approved for payment. The Superintendent recommended that the Board postpone of the district policy further Handbook until the spring.
