North Rich's 6th grade have their own radio station, over rewhich the elementary classes ceive the --late st news, weather and sports each school day at KNRE 9 35 sharp KNRE Radio) was (North Rich Elementary initated by 6th grade teacher E. McKay Willis to provide his students opportunities to develop and improve many of the y, V'V-- , i. VK language arts and social studies skills. KNRE has one scheduled 5 min- ute broadcast daily. Each day two students are assigned to prepare three minutes of the latfest news .which includes items of interest on the inter- state and national, national, two and minutes of local levels; weather and sports. At exactly 0835 hours each day the information the students have prepared is broadcast to the elementary classrooms. Areas that are considered for grading include script preparation (clairty of writing, providing story details, penmenship, spelling (Including voice pitch, stress and and and puncuation) ; news delivery juncture) timing. As the students gain experience Mr. Willis expects to increase the broadcasting time; encourage thestudents to conduct personal interviews with local school, city, county officials concerning important news items that may be generated on our local level. f |
