Not so according to my past experience of counseling couples. Many studies have shown that as people mature, their love life often improves. As a couple gets to know each other and their experience together grows, there is often a more trusting, intimate communication possible. Caldwell also of the tation. As people get older there are usually fewer pressures of child rearing to interfere with the privacy and intimacy of their relationship. The crucial factor seems to be whether the older person has remained young at heart, still emotionally open to caring and being cared for, still viewing life as an adventure. Despite any physical declines, there is always the possibility for sharing and closeness if ones heart is open and ones spirit willing.
