Show 13th Century Drought Summarized The Deseret 'News Magazine of Sunday, February 10, 1985 contained a chart of tree ring wet and dry periods, calculated from Colorado River Basin data. The chart covers the period from A.D. to 1980. The last half of the 13th century was extremely dry. The Great Salt Lake dried up. The Fremont culture of the Anasazi Indians that lived in Utah and Tooele Counties were driven out or starved to death. A large part of their diet was corn, squash and beans. Basic to Beta Sigma Phi, however are the socials for its members. One of the most important is r their Founders Day celebration. Each year a theme is selected to both challenge and to exemplify each member. This past year the theme has been "Paint A Living Masterpiece. The Preceptor Sigma chapter of Grantsville, Beta Omega chapter , of Stansbury Park, and Preceptor Alpha, Alpha Eta and Xi Pi i chapters of Tooele, will meet on April 16 at the Golden Corral' Steak House in Tooele, social hour is from 6:30 til 7:00 with dinner being served at 7:00. Linda Sandberg chairman of the event invites all former members of Beta Sigma Phi in Tooele County to join with them. Reservations for the evening may be made by calling Mrs. A special Sandberg at highlight of the evening will be the announcement of this years Woman of the Year. The award will be presented to an outstanding woman recognizing her for her sorority and community work.
