STUDENT TEACHERS Marshall L. Roberts and Miss Karen Turner, students from BYU, are enggged in practice teaching at Tooele n i , ? ,5 v Karen Turner Student Teacher At Tooele n oOo An unfortunate atmosphere has been in process of creation for sometime back, in our city and county. The minority and majority question has never been a problem in Tooele. Citizenship has been on equality and universal friendship, irrespective of race, creed or color. Recently there was a public statement made by a representative of the local tavern association that the influcence of the church was at an end in the policies of this community. The inference was that what the churches stand for was not good Another implied impression that should be corrected, was that the Mormon church was the only group which stood for the things which were wholesome and good and right. This of course is incorrect, for all churches and church people in Tooele are as a unit, when it comes to backing that which is for the moral and spiritual uplift of the citizenry. Tooele and Tooele County has always been more than favorable and fair to minority people, and has honored them time and time again, with the highest offices in their political power to bestow. It would be unfortunate to permit some power hungry or money seeking person or group, with selfish motives, to split asunder the tranquility of the people who have never permitted race or religion to place a foot in the door of universal friendship. There is one fact about the great majority of the people of in a final show-dowthis county you will find them standing firmly for that which is morally uplifting to the citizenry and their - A J ' ( . w v , M'; V i t r !
