Ballet West dancers perform at local Elementary Schools Ballet West dancers will visit local elementary schools to perform Ballet West for Kids, an award winning educational program that introduces students to the art form of ballet. Dancers will visit Nephi Elementary and Mona Elementary on.April 28. Ballet West for Kids is an assembly presented by a young dance student from the Ballet West Academy, five company dancers, and a narrator. This coming week, Ballet West will send out this small troupe to present the show free of charge to faculty and students at 16 schools. The Ballet West for Kids program is designed to reach every public elementary school in the state once every five to -- six years. This rotation allows for all elementary school children in Utah to experience at least one Ballet West presentation during his or her grade school years. Arts in education is nationally recognized to enrich and broaden the academic achievements of students, explains Peter Christie, Ballet Wests director of educational programs. We believe that making the art form more accessible and personal for children demystifies the art form without taking away its charm.
