The child like spirit never leaves us, I'm happy to impart. Perhaps with age comes, only, aging Because the joy of Christmas will always come from the heart. ' - rneg I guess one of the reasons I enjoy Christmas so much is because I have three little ones to share it with. Watching them, with their pure, innocent, and honest enjoyment of the holidays, creates a totally new perspective. Watch the litle ones, their faces tell a story that many of us seem to have forgotten. There is a look of wonder; when they visit the toy department, at the store. It is a look that can only be compared with the look they have at the circus or at Disneyland. Then there is a look of reluctant expectation; as they wait in line to talk to Santa. Some with eager smiles, some with tears, and a few showing signs of sheer terror. And dont forget the look of anxious anticipation, or maybe it is a look of greed; as the little ones make a daily routine of reading the tags on the colorfully wrapped surprises under the Christmas tree, taking note of the number of gifts addressed to them, and especially, compaing the relative sizes of each one. But are they so very different from us, when we were small and greedy? Sometimes we think that children simply dont understand the meaning of Christmas. Ask any one of them and nine times out of ten they will tell you, in great detail, the' story of the very first Christmas and the manger, the three wise men, and how the tradition of giving presents began. To many it is a wonderful store, but what about the meaning and spirit of Christmas. Watch them very closely, their way of showing joy is a very precious gift to anyone who is able to see, and appreciate that uniqueness. Babies are especialy fun at Christmas. You can take them shopping and they dont beg and they dont tell secrets. They dont count name tags on the presents under the tree, they are content to eat the icycles and bounce the glass ornaments on the floor. They seem to be dedazzled by the whole thing, which is called Christmas. Another way in which we can find the true spirit of Christmas is to share a moment with someone who only wants your company or your love. Someone who is all alone, someone who is a shut in, someone who feels lost and forgotten. You will nver forget the feeling when you see a tear fall from the eyes of a stranger. A tear of happiness from recieving the most precious gift that most of us are able to give, ourselves, our time, our caring. meg AFTER THOUGHTS My seven year old daughter wrote the following. Although there is a telltale sign of the spirit of being a child, there is also a sign of knowing what Christmas really means. CHRISTMAS By Kelly Gibson Christmas is a time of giving to your loving friends. Christmas is a time of happiness. If you have happiness in your heart, you will have joy in your heart. If you have joy in your heart, you will have kindness in your heart. If you have joy in your heart, you will have kindness in your heart. If you have kindness in your heart, you will have love in your heart. And if you have love in your heart, your friends will think you are sweet, and give a gift to you. Then you will think they are sweet too. familiar Christmas numbers, including When Christ Was Born 2 new. Ring, happy hells, at low the snow: 7 he year is point!, let him no.
