While it is not really a new vegetable, having been used extensively for cooking in Oriental countries, it is new to most American home makers. It may be used for any purpose for which you use celery, raw or cooked, but don't expect it to taste like celery for it doesnt. Instead it has the mildly pungent flavor of Chinese cabbage. The big advantage of this vegetable over celery, as far as the gardener is concerned, is its ease of growth, for celery is a very "fussy" crop to raise. It requires, for instance, rich and soil, copious watering d blanching, while Chinese cabbage requires none of these. Former Nephi Lady Gains New Position Mrs. James Bean of Nephi recently received word of the promotion of her daughter, Miss Mildred Bean, to the position of Department Manager at Lockheed AlrCraft Co. at Burbank, California. Miss Bean, who recently assumed her duties as manager of the Procurement Services department is In charge of 80 employees and this number will be Increased to 200 by 1969 due to a new commercial contract awarded to Lockheed for the new commercial plane. Miss Bean started working at Lockheed in 1941 and has continued with the company since that time. She also has taken many educational classes to assist her in preparation for additional responsibilities with the company. She is the second lady to hold this position, the first being Amelia Hughes.
