Show Will Lend Heavy Chain Glenis Black SCS In 1974 According to Silas Barton, Secretary of the San Juan County Board of Supervisors, a chain has been acquired by the board, as excess property from the Monticello District of the BLM, through the Soil Conservation Service. The chain can be rented by any farmer or rancher in the county by contacting Richard Baird at the SCS office in Monticello or any of the Board members, Wilbur Laws, Kloyd Perkins, Tyron Lewis, Silas Barton or Howard Crittenden. Tyron Lewis and Kloyd Perkins will be the stewards of the chain when it is in their respective areas. In conjunction with this weeks national observance of Soil Stewardship Week, we as a board would like to encourage all land owners (stewards) to rededicate themselves to the conserving of our lands and natural resources with good conservation practices.
