State Offers New Attack On Addictions The State Division of Alcohol and Drugs has a new approach to deal with alcohol and drug problems. The philosophy behind the new approach is to initiate a higher degree of interest, concern and involvement on a community, and county wide basis. To do this the Division has hired Regional Program Development Coordinators locally within each of the many districts within the state, to facilitate and coordinate all local efforts regarding alcohol and drug use and abuse. The coordinator is to stimulate, support and encourage community involvement in evaluating, planning and implementing resources to meet area needs regarding education, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of alcohol and drugs. For Southeastern Utah the Regional Coordinator is Evan R. Reid, and he is located at 90 North 1st East, Price. He is available to any one in this region for information or consultation. Anyone having a desire for information or to become involved, can do so by contacting Jim Shearer, Gary Ever-hea- rt or George Lameman at the Division of Family Services in Blanding. Also, they may contact Marion Hazelton or Sam Campenella at the Public Health office in the 4. In effect, drunkenness and drunken behavior is promoted and supported. Hesitation to differentiate between responsible alcohol consumption, which is socially acceptable, and irresponsible consumption, allows many individuals to knowingly exceed rational limits based upon the knowledge they will not be held responsible for their actions while under the influence, at least to a comparable degree that is required when sober.
