Show Bancing pioneer laid to rest Nursing Home open to patients quested by Mrs. Hurst and Darwin Jones sang "Going i Home". Speakers included Scott Hurst, a grandson Glade Hurst, Gene Blichenstaff and Bishop Grant Shumway, Kent Redd gave the benefiction and Melvin Black dedicated the grave. Pallbearers were Don Gunderson, Bill Richardson, Bruce Grover, Michael Wozniak, Glade Hurst and Larry Hurst. Coming from out of town to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hurst, Hugh Hurst, Steve Hurst, Ralph Hurst, all Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hurst, Kearns; Mr. and Mrs. Glade Hurst, Kanab; Mr. and Mrs. Leland ( ' M Seidel, Kirtland, N. M. ; Mr. and Mrs. Don Gunderson, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rich1 Roy; Michael ardson, Eastland; Wozniak, Calgary', Canada; Gayle Salesman, Odessa, Tex Mr. and Mrs. Guy Hurst and Sara and David Jones, of Mesa, Ariz. Mr. Hurst was bom Aug. 13, 1SS4 in Fairview, Utah. He was the son of Phillip and Rebecca Ann Sanderson Hurst and in 1909 married Agnes Jones in Colonia Dublan, Mexico, which marriage wa: solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1911. After leaving Mexico at the time MR. C. RA Y of the revolution the Hurst family settled in Blanding. Mrs. Hurst passed away in 1938 and on April 9, 1960, Mr. Hurst married Livinna Merrill Covington in the Mesa Temple. At the present time Mrs. Hurst is confined to the San Juan Hospital with a broken hip. HURST Mabel June Palmer provided the music and accompanied the numbers given by the choir. Earl Wright gave the invocation and granddaughter Gayle Salesman read the obituary. Mrs. Helen Bayles and Francis Nielson sang "In The Garden" specifically re long time resident of Blanding, C. Ray Hurst, age 83, died Friday, May 3, in the San Juan Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on May 6 in the Blanding Chapel under the direction of Bishop Grant Shumway of the Blanding First Ward. A The San Juan Nursing Home will be open to it's first patient on Monday, May 13. Notice of this opening has been sent to all those who have expressed an interest in being admitted or having someone admitted to the nursing home. Response to this notice has been very poor but it is hoped that the actual opening of the home will creat the interest needed to get people needing nursing home care, to apply. Application forms and information can be obtained Mr. Hurst had been an active worker in the LDS Church all his life. He served as a Stake Missionary', on at least two occasions, was president of the High Priest Quroum, was an active teacher in several of the auxiliaries and in the ward teaching program. He loved working on his farm and always had a big garden until the last few years of his life. He spent a great deal of time the past few years at the Mesa Temple where he worked whenever he was able to do so. In addition to his widow, a son Clarence of Salt Lake City survives as do three daughters, Mrs. Lance (Anna) Phillips, Mrs. Melvin (Melva) Black and Mrs. Toddy (Veda) Wozniak, all of Blanding. In addition ten grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren survive as well as three brothers, Ralph and Hugh of Salt Lake City, Frank of Hawaii, sisters Mrs. Julia Hawkins of Logan, Mrs. Sarah Jones of Mesa and Mrs. Ada Breed of Virginia. at the nursing home in Blanding or the San Juan Hospital In Monticello. The following information should be noted by those who are interested in using the mining home facilities: First: An application for admission must be completed and submitted to Arlow L. Freestone, Administrator, San Juan Nuning Home, Monticello, Utah. Second: After being accepted for admission, the patient will be given a day and time to report to the home. At this time he must present to the nune in charge a "Medical History and Admission Examination" form. This form must be completed by the patient's doctor, prior to admission. Third: Each patient must have a doctor as his penonal physician who will undertake his medical care and visit him periodically. Fourth: Clothing require -ments should be checked. Fifth: Both provate and semi -- private beds are avail- able. Sixth: Charges per month arc; Semi -- private $300.00 Private $350.00 plus additional charges for special care. Seventh: Medicare will pay on patients who meet standard set up, and who have been in a hospital for at least 3 days. Medicare covers up to 100 days of extended care service. The patient must pay $5.00 per day after the 20th day. The nursing home is not certified for Medicare at the present time, but will be in the near future. Eighth: Acutely ill patients will not be admitted to the nursing home. These are hospital cases and cannot be properly cared for at the musing home. Ninth: Admission will not be affected by race, creed, or ethnic group. It is natural for each of us to question the cost of things.
