In the second place, it to us, that further lack of evidenced when was ludge metit they failed to investigate d s turn before they got them on the job instead of trying to ii' it after the Engineers were here at work. The unsubstan-t- . sited rumors that were circulated by board memkrs not nuly showed pixir judgement, but reflected the charathter of i hose who started them. Three years ago a similar problem came up when the Dairy was in the oil business. The question of whether to conrinue the operation of the business or to drop it was brought kfore the memkrship for a vote. At that time the hoard was instructed by the memkrship to continue the operation, hut as is now' the case they eletced to ignore the1 membership and the operation was dropped with a financial loss to memkrs. (It may significant that one of the board members at the time the oil business wras dropped is also a member of the present board.) k Actions of this kind dearly indicate to us that the board is either attempting to do the memkrships thinking for or them, just plain dont give a d what the memkrs do think. In others words theyll run yours and my business with a weak, aimless policy and a complete flagrent disregard for the owners. Since the hoard has not chosen to consider the memkrs wishes, nor to resign- it appears to us that they have at least an obligation to the memkrs to call a meeting and explain their actions. They should also prepared to set forth a positive, constructive program that will pull the business out of the red. While they are in the business of explaining it flight also he a good thing to enlighten the memkrship on why a firm doing nearly $300000 worth of business a year is operating in the red; why no audit of company records has ken made for 17 months, even though the s say one must he made; why they insist on spending thousands of dollars to start a project then quit kfore any good can come of it; what reasoning they used in determining the need for a clean-up- ; what makes them think they are more qualified now to do the job themselves than they were two weeks ago; if the throwing of several thousands dollars of company funds out the door for a half done job, is helping the company finantially; what excuse they will have if their own plan gets a little expensive and they abandone it in the middle; why the president of the board told the auditors nut to verify memkrship accounts; why have been and many other questions that need ignored or airing. - k by-law- by-la- Since the membership has ken disregarded matter, it seems the kard has assumed a big If the business continues to fail the whole bility for that failure will rest squarely on in this whole load for itself. total responsitheir sholders. We would like to propose to the board that they try cooperating with the memkrship rather than fighting them. There is only one result that can possibly come form this type of action, and that is that the board will come out second best in the scrap that is sure to follow'. ic STEM PICE pays off j J About the only wav a flock of sheep pcan be improved is by using rams that are better than the ewes, reports Russell R. The rate of will depend improvement largely on how much better the rams are than the ewes. Mr. Keetch, a specialist at Utah State Agricultural College, savs selection is necessary for all improvements in animal breeding.
