Ne-ph- In pursuance to the published call of the Utah County Democratic Club, nearly one hundred true blue Democrats assembled at the City Hall, Salt Lake City at 12 oclock noon and at once proceeded to organize a Territorial Democratic Party. Thurman, J. D. Page, A. H. Snow, James Mak, F. J. OBrian, J. A. Melville, W. K. Read, Samuel Francis, W. K. Walton, W. H. Seegmiller, W. H Casady, J. II. Paul, and W. R. Pike. On motion of Dr. Faust, the convention then ptoceeded to nominate by ballot a candidate for delegate to Congress. Dr. Faust placed in nomination Dr. Pike. He was followed by S. A. Kenner who placed in nomination Byron Groo, and Mr. Maiben who nominated S. R. Thurman, of Prove. That gentleman stated that he could not consent to be a candidate. Prof. Paul hoped that Mr. Th would reconsider his determination, and allow his name to be used. Mr. Thurman said he was heart and soul in sympathy with the movement, but up to a very recent date, he had been a member of the Peoples Party, and it is necessary that the candidate, whoever he might be, would be open to no criticism. The balloting was then proceeded with, following being the lesult: Dr. Pike 17, S, R. Thurman 12, Dr. Benedict 1, William King I, H. I). Johnson 1, Byron Groo 1, S. A. Kenner 1. As no candidate received a mfijority, another ballot was taken with the following result: Dr. Pike 13. S. R. Thurman 17, Byron Groo 2, Mr. Thurman being nominated by a majority of, one vote, the nomination was made unanimous. Enthusiasm here awakened and speeches were m order.
