La Rues ranch, near Box spring mountains, is some what of a naturalist, says the Riverside (Cal) Press . Recently MFadden captured a snow owl, a beauitful specimen of that species, measuring four and a halt feet from tip to tip of the wing. The owl was white on the breast, and the wings were light brown, mottled w'ith white. The talons were large and the legs powerful. When the owl was captured it was engaged in devouring a Langshan cock. The other morning Mr. La Rue brought the owl to Riversde, and exhibited it in his Jewellery store. While Mr. Paterson, Mr. La Rues watch repairer, was at work inspecting the intestines of an alarm clock, Mr. La Rue left the store, and was gone some time. On his return, he missed a tray of gold and silves watches. A thorough search failed to reveal where the missing watches were. While Mr. La Rue was excitedly hunting for the time pecies, Mr. Paterson heard a muffled ticking. Putting his ear to the breast of the owl the t eking was distinctly heard. With anger Mr, La Rue decapitated the bird, and, on opening its esophagus and stomach proper, he discovered thirteen gold and silver watches. Six of the watches weie in an excellent state of preservation, while seven of the number were in various, stages of assimilation. Oil opening the gizzard, Mr. La Rue made a remarkable discovery. Here was a Waterbury watch. The sides of the watch had been digested, but the hands and face had proved indigestible, and were still intact. The hands indicated a quarter to twelve, the identical time when Mr. MFadden captured the owl devouring the cock. PATENTS Obtained, and all Patent Business attended to Promply and for Moderate Fees.
