Recently wheat allotment notices were mailed out informing old wheat farmers of their 1962 wheat allotment and 1962 acreage permitted without marketing quota penalties. Mr. Cox stated it is important that all farmerswho'did not receive an allotment noticeand intend to seed wheat in 1962, should contact the ASC office in order to learn more about the program and avoid paying marketing quota penalties on their 1962 wheat crop; which will be approximately $2.60 per bushel for normal yield established for the farm. Mr. Cox further stated that there is a wheat stabilization program in effect where farmers can divert their wheat acreage from the production of wheat and receive payment for this diverted acreage. If your head itches,r youve got it. Speaking of elk hunting, weve had no limit of hints and offers of help. Everyone we talk to has some special place where you can positively get an elk. And, for part of the kill, they would be glad to help us run down the wiry critters. To date, weve accepted enough help that wed have to give away about six quarters of the animal we might get, in order to pay debts. Wonder how many quarters one of these elk have? We heard that Rex Bunderson of Emery had constructed a reservoir on his property in Moore, during the past summer. It was built with the thought that per haps winter storms and spring runoff might fill the storage area for use next summer. The storm that hit Emery and Moore about a month ago, plus other rains that have been prevalent in the area, filled the pond by the first of September. To make a record of this fact, we decided to get a picture of the filled pond. An excursion was made there last week, only to find that the pond had been used down until it was almost empty. (You could see where It hud been full, though). This past weekends storm, we understand, also filled the pond. Maybe we can get another picture before it Is used down this time.
