Verdis opera Rigoletto, which on Eight will be produced January IS and 19 at the Capitol theatre by the music department of the Utah State Agricultural college with Professors Walter Welti and N. W. Christiansen, directing, carries with it an unusually Interesting plat. The story of Rigoletto Is a tragic one but the episodes of tragedy are AUjGOF interspersed with many humorous lines and situations reflecting the greatness of Victor Hugo, whose work LeRoie samuse was the inspiration for Verdi's opera. If the saying is true that All the world loves a lover then Rigoletto should be doubly interesting for the Duke of Mantua, essayed by Marcus Griffin, is the John Gilbert of that day and falls passion-ate'- y in love with every pretty girl that comes under his gaze. The humor of the play is brought out by Sparafucile," played by Paul Monson, who is a professional assassin and has his murder standard well In mind. Rigoletto, interpreted by John M. Anderson, carries with him two curses; one of a deformed body and one placed upon his head because of his intrigues. About this character, and that of his daughter Gilda, played by Miss Tyra Wilson, hangs the tragedy of the story.
