The Open House was given by the Holmans Mrs. Ken daughter, Crandal. RELIEF SOCIETY SETS SOCIAL SEPT. 25 Mrs. Mildred Smith announces that the Duchesne Relief Society opening social will be held on Sept. 25, at 2 p.m. at the Stake House. All ladies are invited to attend. OPENING Gene Nelson and children of Oregon and Mrs. Elwin Thomas and children of Washington returned to their homes early Saturday after visiting in Duchesne with the Dave Thomas and the Walter Nelsons and other friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rife of Portland, Oregon, stopped Sunday to visit with Mr- - and Mrs. Walter Nelson. They have just been married and were on their honeymoon. Robert is a former resident of Duchesne. Mr- - and Mrs. Willard Day of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Lloyd' of Roosevelt and Mrs. Lucy Rowley of Salt Lake City spent the weekend at the Ralph Rowley home. Dr. and Mrs. John Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Horrocks of Salt Lake City spent part of the weekend in Duchesne with friends and relatives. Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs- - Melvin White were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gilbert of Arcadia. Fred Gaunt from Des Moines, Iowa, visited for a few day's last week with Mr. and Mrs. Art Taylor and other friends in this vicinity. Saturday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson and family were Mr. and Walker and children of Kamas. Visitors Friday' and Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rowan Stutz and family were Mr. and Mrs. Ben Olsen and son of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Miss Lila Summers' spent a week in Los Angeles with Miss Geneal Partridge recently. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Parish and family of Rangely spent the weekend at the Harve Partridge home. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Farnsworth and family of Orem spent the weekend at the Charles Partridge . home. Mrs. Charles Partridge returned last week from a trip to Meiners Oaks, Calif., where she' visited with the Reed Pullys. Their son, LaGrand, returned to Duchesne with her to attend school here this winter. They also visited in Las Vegas with her sister and family, Mrs. Vivian Wooley, and at Orem with the Rex Farnsworth family. Mrs-Dea- - n While in Meiners Oaks, Miss Geneal Partridge, who is employed at San Francisco, came to spend the weekend at the home and to visit her mother.Pully Mrs. Mack Zimmerman and son of Roosevelt spent the weekend here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Robbins. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Odekirk and baby of Salt Lake City have been in Duchesne with the Stanley McDonalds the last two weeks. Stanley has been working in Roosevelt during the time. They went home Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Pierce and family of El Paso, Texas, spent the weekend in Duchesne visiting the Elmer Moon family- - They were enroute to Provo where Ronald is entering the BYU. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Moore and baby of Salt Lake City spent the weekend with the Marvel Moores and the Quinby Simpsons. The Eldridge Buckalews spent the weekend in Salt Lake City at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John McAffe and attended the Fair. Mrs. Blaine Carter and son, who hal been visiting the McAffes returned to Duchesne with them. Mayor Chester Lyman, James Hatch and Carl Wilkerson spent ' Friday in Craig on business. Mrs. Glen Stephenson and her daughter, Carol, spent Friday in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Perry Grant, Jim Grant and Carol Grant attended the State Fair oyer the weekend. The Earl Jordens visited in Tooele with relatives over the ' weekend- - Miss Joyce Lundgren, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lundgren of Duchesne, will leave this week to attend school at the USAC. Saturday and Sunday visitors at the Arch Hayes home were Mr. and Mrs. Warren Marshall and family of Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Vic Porter of Salt Lake. Thursday and Friday guests were Mr. and Mrs. Grant Lee and son of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lisonbee and Keith spent Sunday in Spanish Fork with Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Lisonbee and family. Valda Massey, Duchesne High School teacher, underwent an appendicitis operation at the Roosevelt Hospital recently- - Mrs. Maur-in- e Mickelson is taking his place until he recovers. Mrs. Ella iHellekson and Mrs. Myrtle Billrose of Marro Bay, California, were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Baird Goff. They were enroute to Dixon, Wyo. to see Mrs. Emma Birch. Mr. and Mrs- - Norman Brown and family of Kearns were weekend guests at the Baird Goff residence. Mrs. Ed Carman and Kristy accompanied Karen to Logan Sunday where Karen will enter the USAC. Mrs. Woodrow Day and Mrs. Emma Wimmer attended a dinner party at Spanish Fork Thursday in honor of Mrs. Sarah Wilson, The dinner was held at the home of Mrs. Viola Bona. Mrs- - Wilson returned to Duchesne with Mrs. Wimmer and Mrs. Day for a visit. Lloyd Abbott of Salt Lake City visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Abbott for the weekend. Donald Tatton and Edmund Bench, Mrs. Ruth Dastrup and Mrs. Helen Odekirk were called to the bedside of their mother, Mrs- - Annie Bnch, who is seriously ill in the Utah Valley Hospital. Mrs. Dastrup remained and the rest returned to their homes. Mrs. Odekirk will go back Tuesday after attending to business here.
