AcciThe National Safety Councils statistical yearbook, dent Facts, just off the press, shows there were 38,300 traffic DONATING am going deaths in the United States in 1955. Official Defense Department records list the battle deaths in the Korean War at 33,629. We dont for a moment want to imply that the highway is as hazardous as the the battlefield, said Ned H. Dearborn, president of the Council. But the fact is the loss to the nation from the 1955 traffic toll is greater in terms of human life than the loss sustained in the Korean War.. Therefore, its certainly worth getting excited about. Approximately 1,350,000 Amercians were injured in motor vehicle accidents during the year, the Council said. 'Bennett oame through with 15 hits good for 15 runs while Altamont collected 10 safeties, but bqt could only crosss home plate six times. Bennett Beats Ducijesne On July 24 Bennett traveled to Duchesne to play a postponed game and were able to eke out a 6 to 4 win over the Duchesne nine. Doug Horrocks, Duchesne pitcher, had Bennett at his mercy for the first four and two-thirinnings, allowing the victors one tally in the fifth inning. ' It was a close tussle until the seventh Duchesne inning with leading by a 4 to 1 margin. In die seventh Bennett iced the game by pushing across four runs on a hit and three walks. For Duchesne, Kip Merkley was outstanding in the field. The home team was able to collect 8 blows off the slants of Clint Roper and L. Bolton, Bennett hurlers. The winning moundsman was Clint Roper while the loss was credited to Doug Horrocks. This Saturday finds Bennett traveling to Myton to play a postponed game on the Myton diamond at 2 p.m. This will determine the winer of the Basin League.
