Show ii TABIONA a inn Crystal Wilcken Impressive Rites Held For Family Visits , The first Sunday in May was a happy time for Mrs. Irene Johnson and her family, who enjoyed getting together for the first time in a long time. The entire group enjoyed Sunday dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hack-et- t in Hanna. They also all attended church in the Hanna ward, where the two newest members of the family group were blessed. They were the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hackett and Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Allred of Heber. thrill which also A special marked the day was the visit of Dale Allred, who has been very ill for a long time. He is the youngest son of Mrs. Johnson. Family members who enjoyed visiting their mother, and other relatives and friends, were: Mr. and Mrs. Keith Abplanalp and sons of Rangely, Colo., Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Allred and children of Heber, Mrs. LaVar Pace and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Dal Allred, all of Salt Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hackett and family of Hanna. Irene says she now has thirteen grandchildren (a bakers dozen). BIRTHDAY PARTY Miss Collie Defa . was honored guest at a birthday surprise party at the home of Mr. and Mis. Joe Josie during the week. Games and light refreshments were enjoyed and the balance of the evening given over to watching TV. Present to enjoy the festivities were Collie Defa, Lane Josie, Carole Defa, Max Giles, Linnette LeFev-re- , Paul Wadley, Mary Lewis, Vernon White, Patsy Curry, Bobby Pace, Sheila Wagstaff, Gladys Defa, Acel Thomas, Linda Thomas, Ila Mae Casper and Mark Michie. School News Seminary Grads , Van Tassell Not many more school news columns for me, with only two weeks left until graduation, but in looking back I have really enjoyed this school year and helping with the school news. A big event at .Tabiona High last Friday was the awarding of the King Memorial Sportsmanship Trophy to one of our basketball team members by Miss King, the daughter of Stan King, of Vernal, donor of the award. The trophy, which is awarded for individual sportsmanship was presented to Lane Josie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Josie. We all extend our congratulations to him, and' hope a picture of Lane and the trophy can be ready for the paper soon. The ninth grade presented a very enjoyable assembly program this week. The fifth and sixth graders are planning a special assembly for May 18. The seniors and our advisor, Principal Don H. Davis, are planning our commencement program, gram. A horseback riding party up the North Fork of the Duchesne River is planned for the high school for Friday, May 18. Several from Tabiona High attended the track meet at Vernal, Saturday. According to the announcements, three tracks records set by Vern Carter, of the Tabiona High School, for the Uintah Basin schools still stand, although one came within ten seconds of being broken Saturday. All of the records are in running. It might be interesting to note that Vern has mission to fulfilled a three-yea- r Norway, married after returning from his mission, and is now the father of three sons, since these records were set in high school. (We wonder if the sons will be able to run like Dad when they at Tabiona, get in high school of course). The six graduates were: Patsy Curry, Ed Giles, Clifton Hardman and Cad'olyn Pilling of the Hanna ward and Collie Defa and Yvonne Woolley of the Tabiona ward. , There were three post graduates: Max Giles of the Hanna ward, Lane Josie and Acel Thomas of the Tabiona ward. The following program was presented: prelude music, by Amber Carter; We Thank Thee, O God For a Prophet, congregation; invocation, Lane Josie; short talks were given by the six graduates, followed by a trio consisting of Lila Jean Carter, Malta Young and Lane Josie, singing, My Testi mony. Remarks were given by G. J. Garlick, who was principal of Tabiona Seminary Jast year. The address to the graduates was given by ' Dr. Crawford M. Gates of the BYU faculty and the YMMIA general board. Principal of the Seminary, D. Platt Woodthe graduating land, presented class to A. Hale Holgate, who awarded the diplomas. Lila Jean Carter and Malta Young sang a duet and benediction was by Max Giles. Two babies were blessed in Sacrament meeting last Sunday. The baby daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hackett was blessed by her father and given the name of Lorraine Crystal. The baby daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lorin, Allred was blessed by her father and given the name of Luana Gay. Visitors from out of town for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Dale Allred, Mrs. LaVar Pace and family, Mrs. Velma Abplanalp and family;, also Mrs. Irene Johnson and Mr. and Mrs.- DeLyle Giles. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Lazenby and children from Magna were weekend visitors in this vicinity.
