Donald was bom in San Juan county September 28, 1914, a son of Max D. and Mary Elizabeth His mother Clements Peterson. died when he was four years old. and he lived with his grandmother until his father remarried. He attended Duchesne schools until 1934 when he became a member of the Uintah Basin Record staff.' In 1937, he was employed at Kohls market, where he had worked since. Interested in civic affairs, Donin Junior ald was prominent Chamber of Commerce activities and had been a member of Duchesnes voluntary fire departmnt. Last year, he was chairman of the publicity and advertising for the Duchesne County Stampede. Surviving are his widow, Edna Lemon Peterson; three children, Larry Donald, Sherri, and a month-ol- d son, riot yet named: his father of Richfield; his stepmother, Mrs. Max Peterson and a brother, Phillip of Duchesne, and a sister, Miss Frances Peterson of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Clark were Provo visitors Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Maxwell of Salt Lake City were guests on Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ike Hamilton. Miss Emma Jean and Lawrence Ray Maxwell returned home after spending a few weeks visiting in Pleasant Grove and Salt Lake City.. Mrs. Martha Tillack and Mrs. Pearl White spent Monday in Duchesne. I'NITt STATl ( .' swis nt Duchesne Man Mrs. Geneva Mitchell of Rock-por- t, California, arrived Thursday for a surprise visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Olsen. Willard County Commissioner Day was a Duchesne visitor Thursday. County Attorney George Stewart has been in Duchesne during the past week on court business. Lorin Mitchell expects to leave Saturday for Hill Field, where he will be employed as a carpenters apprentice. Mrs. Jess Johnstun left Thursday evening for Salt Lake City. She has reservations on a plane to Oakland, California Friday and will visit there for ten days with Mr. her son and daughter-in-laand Mrs. Carl Wilkerson. Mrs. Blaine Foster came in Wednesday from Salt Lake City to see Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Halstead. Mr. Halstead, she reports, is recovering from hi3 serious illness. Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Griffin, Bert Swain, Max Torgensen and Burt F. Madsen of Richfield were in Duchesne Wednesday to attend the funeral services of Donald Peterson. Mr. and Mrs. G. V. Billings, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Richens, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Casper, Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Caldwell and Mrs. Margaret Hair came in from Salt Lake City to attend the funeral.. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Davis of Orem were also here. Miss Ardith Davis accompanied Frances Peterson to Duchesne to attend the Peterson funeral. Bob and Russell Schonian, Junior Wilson and Milton Hollenbeck went to Orem Sunday to help with the peach picking for Kohl's market. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bench, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Hair and Donald Peterson had gone earlier, but the tragic death of the latter shortly after their arrival, had halted the work, and a larger crew was necessary to finish. Mrs. J. E. L. Carey of Fruit-lan- d was a luncheon guest Monday of Mrs. Ernest Schonian. Mr. and Mrs. Carey had come down to attend Masonic and Eastern Star meetings in Myton Monday evening. Word was received here Monday that Golden McNeil had purchased the property of Mrs. J. W. Rockhill. in Fruitland, and Mrs. Rockhill was moving to Salt Lake City. She completed on July 1, a long term as postmaster at Fruitland, and will be greatly missed by friends in her community as well as Duchesne. Dr. Chet Dalgleish, state director of dental health, stopped at the Record office for a brief visit. He said the mobile dental unit, which has been employed in Uintah county for the past few weeks, is now ready to move to a new location. It will be some time before Duchesne can have it again, he said, since many counties are still on the "first visit list. Leo Kofford, who has been stationed in Kansas, has been spending a few days furlough visiting friends in Utahn. Before coming to Utah, Leo spent several days with his family in Oregon. Harold Thomas, who has been employed in Delta, has returned for a short visit with his wife and family. Mrs. B. A. Jacoby left Thursday for Salt Lake where she will meet Mr. Jacoby and daughter, Betty Jo, who have been visiting for the past week in Poc'atello, Idaho. Heber Moon of Hanna was transacting business in Duchesne Thursday. Bob Montgomery, who has been employed for the last few1 months at the Consolidated Airplane factory in San Diego, California, returned to Duchesne Sunday for a brief visit with friends in this city. Mrs. G. A. Goodrich from Salt Lake City was visiting with her family in Duchesne over the weekend. Mrs. Goodrich has been working in Auerbach's department store in Salt Lake for the past weeks, but will be employed, upon her return to the city, in the Remington Small Arms plant. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hart motored to Myton Sunday to spend the day with Mr. and Mrs. James Dalgliesh. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Gerry drove to Salt Lake Friday to visit for a few days with daughters, Judy and Jackie, who are working at the Remington plant there.
