Then they organized a tricounty association, talked things over and called in the chain stores. One chain store alone Safeway this season bought 1,300,000 pounds of one brand of Utah spuds. Home, died Monday morning of injuries suffered when he was kicked by a horse. Miss Donna Sorensen of Talmage was a visitor here Sunday. Mr and Mrs. Tom Maggan and family of Helper spent the week end visiting relatives. A family dinner was held in honor of Claude and Vergil Maggan who are leaving for the army Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph McMullin and family and Chess McMullin of Indian Bench, were visiting here Sunday. Joy Alois Stevenson of Los Angeles, a daughter of Clinton Stevenson, who was captured on Wake Island, is visiting at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Brigham Stevenson. Mr. and Mrs. Brigham Stevenson were Salt Lake and Provo visitors over the week end. Mrs. Tommy Larsen, formerly Miss Geneal Thayne, was home visiting her parents. Mrs. Cleo Tanner and sons of Ogden are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rowley. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Lyons and Bleazard took Mrs. Kathrine Boyd Bleazard to Salt Lake for medical attention. Mrs. Edna Merkley of Duchesne was here visiting friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Birch and family have been to Utahn visiting his brother who is ill. On August 15th, a gathering of the Lindsay family was held on the river in honor of Pvt. Douglas Lindsay. After dinner, they went to Moon Lake. Melba and Dean Lloyd spent Wednesday night with their sister, Mrs. Paul Lemon. Mr. and Mrs. Senior Mortenson and children, Mary Lee and Keith, spent Saturday in the Uintah canyon. Miss Pauline Mott has been visiting with her cousin, Jean Price, at Duchesne. Mrs. Clyde Rice returned home from Salt Lake City with her new baby girl. Clarence Baum has gone up to Avlntiquin to look after his herd of sheep grazing in that locality. If you are interested in the most approved methods of catching coyotes, consult Leo Baum. He has trapped several during the past week, which, needless to say, is a source of satisfaction to the sheep men in the vicinity.
