Wesley Horsley, and six members of the Board of Governors, to officers of the Western Portland Cement Co., which took over the o Cement Co., plant of the at the companys offices in the First National Bank building in Ogden, , yesterday. The delegation assured the company officials that the Brigham organization was Interested enough to detail a committee to solicit stock sales, k and procure labor on a part-cas-h basis, solicit road improvement in the vicinity of the plant, put on a campaign to urge all local cement purchases to be from this plant, and to do anything else which might be suggested. The delegation was assured that their cooperation would be asked for; that the companys consulting engineer was just finishing a ten days and that investigation of the set-uaction would likely be taken shortly. While no definite . announcements were made, the visitors from this city felt assured that prospects for opening the plant at Brigham City are brighter than they have been at any time since it was closed down. The chamber of commerce will conto tinue to do, whatever. secure the return of this industry to the city. Assurance was given a delegation from the Box Elder Commercial Club and Chamber of Commerce, of this o city, by officers of the Sugar company, at the company's office in Salt Lake City Wednesday, that present plans included the operation of the Brigham City plant owned , by that company. , Barring 'some unforseen shortage of sugar beets, which does not now seem., likely, we will operate . the plant at Brigham, said Walter Pyper, secretary of the company, when Lewis Jones, president of. the organization, assured .him that the chamber had throughout the spring had committees working to increase sugar beet acreage and would continue to cooperate in any way. We are already starting to get the plant into condition to run, making necessary repairs and replacements; and we will continue our policy of using local men for the sugar plant obs wherever practicable, continued Mr. Pyper.
