When Mrs. Oliver F. Davis went from her home on north 3rd east street to the barn and chicken coop across Box Elder creek half a block north to feed her chickens, she espied a pile of clothing in the far corner of the coop and upon investigation found that it was a cache of new suits, shoes and other apparel-Shreported the matter to her husband who in turn advised the officers and a thorough investigation was made after which the cache was removed. The goods were part oj the loot taken from the Leader storeSpecial officers on and were deputized placed officers the guard Immediately, working in relays so that not for one moment after the cache was discovered was the place left unguarded. Nothing occurred during Sunday, Sunday night or Monday until about two oclock this morning when a man walked into the Davis barn- He was carrying a suit case and the guards were in the opposite end of the barn behind a partition- - Thinking that the visitor might possibly be one of the officers, the guards asked "Is that you Will? whereupon the man replied You bet your life, turned and ran-Thguards had to get out of the barn and run around the west end before who they could see the fleeing party was heading across the big bridge and west along Third North street- - The man was commanded to stop but he kept right on and the officers opened The man was under the glare fireelectric light which made him an of an easy mark and just as he stepped onto the bridge over the small creek, the fatal shot struck him and he went down in a heap. The clothing is thought to have come from Fsh-burstore which substantiates the suspicion that the robbery of that store and the robbery of The Leader was committed by the same parties-Othe left arm of the dead man are two large vaccination scars and in the Inside pocket of the coat was an aluminum comb and a pair of worn kid gloves in the side pockets. There were no papers, no weapons nor anything else by which identification of the man might be made.
