S. Hansen, which proposes to amend Chapter 100 of the 1909 law relative to permitting stock sires to run on the open range promiscuously. The bill presented by Senator Hansen intends to amend the law so that only pure bred bulls can be permitted on the open range and then it goes on to define what a pure bred animal is. This measure has the hearty backing of the Box Elder Cattlemens Association for the reason that the breeders making up this association are endeavoring, for the most part, to build up pure bred herds and they are all compelled to turn their cattle out on the open range during the summer months along with the cattle of other breeders which makes it impossible to control their breeding. The bill ought to be endorsed by all cattle growers for the reason that if only pure bred animals are permitted to run on the open range the herds of the growers who are not using pure bred animals would be benefitted while the pure bred growers would not have the annoyance of getting inferior stock mixed in with their blooded an imals. But it is not the purpose of the bill to compel ail counties to submit to the regulations but such counties as are not yet ready may desig nate a time when they are prepared to subscribe to the regulations and that time can be specified in the law while those counties which do not favor the law at all, can be exempted en tirely. In Box Elder County there Is very little opposition to the measure. The same condition exists iu Cache and Rich counties. This law has been in operation in neighboring states a good many years and it works out perfectly.
