A meeting of considerable interest to t he farmers east of Bear river was held at Honeyville last Friday. It was attended by a large number of representative farmers from Dewey-viilHoneyville and Biigham City. The meeting was addressed by Mevrs. T. It. Culler, Mosiah Evans and J. T. Ilammond. From their remarks it appears that the flow of water in Bear river h,t$ decreased to such an extent during the past month that the companies represented by these gentlemen, the Utah Sugar Co., and tiie Hammond Bros. Construction Co., have decided that they could not s at present guarantee water in the d east side canal during the low water season. It would not be safe to do so, and a new proposition was made to the farmers to this elfect: The farmers would be furnished water just as long as the flow in the ftver would permit. The east side canal would have a secondary right only, subject to the requirements on the west side. This would give them sufficient water to raise ono crop of lueern hay undone ofseed.and also ins ire sufficient water for grain and wtrly vegetables. The price would be e, Brigham City, Utah. reduced from $10 per acie lo $22.50 per acre, the terms of payment being $7.50 now deposited and $5 for each of the ngxt three years. The prospects for increasing the flow of water in Bear river f Aim making a storage reservoir ot Bear Lake and securing water from other sources was reported to he very encouraging. The proposition has met with decided favor witli nearly all interested and whenaUhave agreed to it, work will begin on thecanal. It was Willard's game from the start and was attended by a great majority of Willards population both young and old. Theie were unpleasant features in the game which it is hoped may never be repeated. If baseball Is going to develop other feelings than friendly rivalry then the contesting teams had better play witli some one else. The Brigham boys have always treated the Willard boys well when they came here and have a right to expect equal courtesy when visiting there. The game was called in the last half of the eighth innings on account of darkness. Brigham had made 10 runs in this inniDg and but two men were out when the game was called off. At the dose, of the game refresh, merits were served to the visitors at Hie expense of the Willard boys, REAL ESTATE LOANS. The game was played at Willard and a large crowd went down from this city to witness it. There was trouble fronUffie start ami it showed up pretty regularly through the game. The principal bone of contention was that the Brigham team took down a man said to be Jack Clifford, the pugilist, and an expert ball player. The Willard bojs, led on by County Attorney Perry, objected to Clifford playing but as the Brigham boys would nut consent to withdraw him, the umpire, THE JEWEL, the best range for the money on the market.
