This was decided upon at a meeting of the Bar association which was held In the Federal court The associations Toom last evening. investigating committee reported in fayorof such action and the report was unanimously adopted by the association. The three charges Attorney Jones will have to face are forgery, entering into champertous contracts and appearing in suits without the authority of the parties he represented. Attorney Jones was present during the proceedings and made a lengthy plea for leniency and exoneration. For overan hour he addressed the accusing the investigating committee of unfairness. lie declared that the charges were the concoctions of those who sre seeking his downfall. At the conclusion of his speech he appeared to be on the verge of exhaustion. The report of the committee was submitted by Chairman Parley L. Williams. It was based upon six charges hied by Attorney C. S. Price and thirteen others brought by Attorney Edward B. Chase of Brigham City. Chairman Williams stated that the committee composed of himself, Attorney Frank Hoffman and Attorney Joseph F. They found that Attorney Jones was guilty of having entered into a chamgertous contract with the defendant in the case of the Western Loan and Savings Co. vs. Berg. The report closed with the recommendation that the association invite the Supreme court to act in the matter. Judge W. F. He declared that he had not received fair treatmeut at the hands of the committee and asserted that Chairman Williams was prejudiced against him because he had appeared In several suits agaiDSt the Oregon Short Line, of which Attorney Williams is the legal representative. He also scored the committee for falling to exonerate him on the charges ot winch he is accused pf unprofessional conduct and asserted that he is wrongly accused in every instance. He maintained that country lawyers must not he expected to maintain as high a moral standard, professionally, as the attorneys of the cities.
