A Committee Appointed to Meet With the Sugar Company. e About a dozen members of the canal committee met at the tithoffice last Saturday to talk over ing the situation as developed by the recent letter of Manager Cutler of the Utah Sugar company. There were east-sid- from Deweyville, representatives Iloneyville, Bear River city, Calls Fort, Brigham city and Willard, s Prest. Chas. Kelly gave an account of what had been done by the committee to Induce the company to construct the canal and said it would not do to give It up now. After considerable discussion, it was decided to have a special committee prepare a map showing the lands between Collinston and the south line of the county that would be benetitted by the proposed canal and have the committee wait upon t, he officers of the Utah Sugar company and make another effort to induce them to build the canal. The committee consists of Oleen N. Stohl, J. D. Peters, Nels Jenson, of Brigham city; Oluf Jenson of Bear River city, and R. E. Davis of Willard. There Is a general feeling that the canal will be extended to the springs near Iloneyville where there is a drop of 77 feet which will be of great value to the company in generating electric power for use in its proposed sugar plant. If this is done the farmers of and south Deweyville, Iloneyville Bear well be conRiver along may gratulated. Since writing the above it is reported on good authority that the Sugar company intends running the canal down through Iloneyville and along the east bank of Bear River as far as the Southern Pacific railway. A number of Brigham people own land from Honeyville south who would rejoice to see this done. Thompson Meets With an Accident. The ill luck that ha9 attended S. F. The fingers of the hand which the bullet went through were takeD oft by a threshing machine several years ago, and ms son also lost his fingers the same way. This, together with the death of his wife about two yfears ago, makes a series of misfortunes seldom equaled. But Deputy Thompson is still game and ready to put up a brave fight against fate. Robert Henderson Dead. Robert Henderson, a resident of Willard and one of the best known citizens of this county, died Monday, April 28, at his ranch at Deep creek, a few miles north of Malad city, Idaho, where he has a dairy. He had been sick only a week and his condition was not thought serious until a day or two before his death. The body was brought to Willard Tuesday and funeral services were held at the meeting house yesterday afternoon. The deceased was nearly 72 years of age. He was one of the sturdy, honest, hardworking men who are invaluable in opening up a new country His death is said to be due to over exertion, contracting a serious cold and resulting in mountain fever. The honesty of the druggist is tested whou he has to decide between using some high grade preparation or some cheaper imitation.
