Show f 10 m id-i- ii Annual Pioneer Ball Proves ' Entertainment of Most Picturesque Reminiscences Quaintly picturesque 'was tha annual pioneer ball given last night at the Odeon. Gowns of from thirty to fifty years old were brought forth from cedar chests and were worn by daughters and granddaughters of the early settlers of Utah. -Booths were arranged hy the three plo-- ; neer organisations, under the ausploea of which the ball was given. From the booths refreshments were offered for sale to add to the fund tor which the entertainment was given. The booth of the Daughters of the Mormon battalion was decorated In the colors of the organisation, yellow, representing the sunflower. The Handcart Pioneers' booth was adorned with red, the color of the Indian paintbrush, and thy booth of the Daughters of the Pioneers was in Waving green, representing sagebrush. amid tha colors commemorating tne native vegetation of Utah, were American ' flags 10:30 oclock tha grand march- made At a pageant of the quaint costumes. The proceed of the ball will be devoted to monument funds of the Daughters of the Mormon Battalion and the Daughters of the Pioneers, and to a fund being collected by the Daughters of the Pioneers toward buying glass rasA for historical relics kept at the state oapftol.
