Show . ADRUV Tbe Icelanders Reunion. fork press The annual reunion of tho Icelanders of Spanish Fork and vicinity was held in the pavilion last Monday. August .Trd, and tho program as published in The Press of last week was remarkably well carried out. Tho introductory speech by the chairman was timely and well worded. Tho music and singing was good and gave satisfaction to all present. The speeches on Iceland and Utah by Gislie E. Bjarnason and Erick Hanson, sr., were both interesting and highly instructive, which, with one recitation, and singing of the national hymn, Eldg.iinla lsafold, concluded the forenoon part of the program. The afternoon program began with a song by the choir, which wras followed by a twenty minutes address on America by John duet by Caroline Olson and Nina Peterson; singing by the choir; some recitations, and of an interesting short story by Mrs. Solveig Johnson; comic dialogue by Erick Hanson, jr., and some other children, together with selections by the M. I. A. hand concluded the program for the day, after which there was a children's dance. Ilie leading features of the were a recitation on the influence iff the Ancient Literature on the modern civilization, and a speech by Miss Rosetta Hanson on Iceland and its poople. Miss Ibtnson, though she was horn and rearer here in Utah, and never was in Iceland, gave fully as accurate n discriptinn of the climate and geographical peculiarities of that country and the general characteristics of its people is any native born Icelander here in Utah could have done. Ill short, the whole affair was pleasant and creditable to those who took part therein. kkxy ff fa 2S;, rCTULlSHF.R NSHN, &UBB(j HiiZ RIPTION RATES nwfH 50 75 C'rn,wf 6j 4Y able in advance Wbo anyone wishes to discontinue res tills office must be notified Local News.
