It would however be necessary a supplementary bridge, to or culvert, over a water coure near the from those who have lunch. I surved the river at this place that it and for a i, at low water, 210offeetthatwidedistance 18 part feet deep. The next place above this which L at. all favorable for bridging is a point 250 feet above tho spiling of the old C. P. line, opposite the hou-- e of James Mathews, where a pontoon hridge was in e several years ago. A wagon road from Corinne to this place would begin on Seer nd street, at a point midway be tween C. P. and U. N. It. Its, and follow tho edge of the bench to the old C. P. grade, thence on the grade to its end, thence at an angle to the river bank, 400 feet distant, which is abovo high water mark, thenco on high ground to the place of crossing. The river hero at low water is 200 feet wide, and, as I ncertained by soundings at intervals of 20 feet, its greatest depth is 9 feet and average 7 feet. All tho grading necessary en tho other side can be done by one man and one team in ono day. On this side a small amount of grading at each end of the C. P. grade would be necessary. The road can bo carried in a straight line from tho end of the o.d C. P. grade to tho crossing, a distance ot 1,400 feet, by constructing a grade 2 feet high. But the distance on tho river bank where no gra le is needed is not much greater. Above this site there is no point oppo-it- e tho city suitable for bridging.
