Lat week we had the pleasure and profit ot u trip up Malad Valley as far a the city which bears that name The scenery along ihe valley presents a pleasing variety, and tor agricultural and grazing land it is notprobble that this valley is surpassed by any in tho mountains which does not cotnprie a larger number of square miles. There are numerous settlement in the valley, the mat important of vhich is MnUd City. It is supposed to contain betwien five and six bundled inhabitants; and is tlie county seat of Oneida county, Idaho, lion. M. E. Hollister, Judge of the Third Judicial district and Chief Julice of the Territory, resides here. His long experience on the bench in Illinois, and as a Consul for the United State Government at foreign Court, gives a dignity to Malad District that is seldom enjoyed in the Territories. The resident attorneys are L. P. Higbee and B. F. White, and Court being in session the town was honored with the presence of the United States and Ter ritorial prosecuting attorneys for Idaho, and a number of the legal profession from Wyoming urd Utah. The business of the town is about the same that is usually found in a country village, com prising a mill, blacksmith shop, two hotels and several mercantile establishments. A majority of the inhabitants are Mormons, and of course the Co op Is the leading establishment, hut many of them are not strictly orthodox, and chose to trade where they pleae. They are also more liberal in their views then in'most of the Mormon settlements. We bare been told that more letters a d printed matter are sent into thi valley than to Cache Valley, which contains, more than four times the number of inhabitants.
