If it had been put in early in the season thero would have been no difficulty in raising tbe crop with no water at all. In fact, if the ground is properly prepared, thoroughly pulverized and made compact and light, nearly all kind of grain can be successfully raised with no irrigation at all. We were shown yesterday strawberries nearly ripe, which were looking healthy and promising a splendid yield, that have not been watered this season. The ground had been thoroughly hoed and carefully pulverized no lumps being left to fill the ground with cavities and make the surface rough, and tho seil retains sufficient moisture for the maturing of the crop.
