A certain lawyer in that locality, taking umbrage at some fancied insult put upon him by the court o'er which this Judge presides, conceived the idea of writing a letter of resignation to the President and forging the judicial officer thereto. The letter was duly received by the President, and was couched in such forcible, not to say insulting language, as to lead the Chief Executive to nominate his successor at once. The first that the Judge learned of these proceedings was upon the arrival of his successor, Avho proceeded to enter upon the duties of his bffice withyut regard to protests. Our Judge, justly indignant, came on here, and was apprised of the facW as stated above. He will await the return of the President, to see what further steps Avill be taken in the matter.
