Show 2 Hilltop Conference center namesake dies Retired Air Force General Bryce Poe II, a former Ogden ALC commander, died of a stroke on Nov. 20 in Mount Vernon, Va. A memorial service will be held at the Old Post Chapel, Fort Myer, Va., on Dec. 14 at 11 a.m., followed by burial in Arlington National Cemetery. Poe served as commander of the Ogden Air Materiel at Hill Area now the Ogden Air Logistics Center In 1974. While Poe served as AFLC commander, the Poe Conference Center at Hill AFB was dedicated in his honor in October 1980. The center, in Bldg. 1295, was named for the general in recognition of his contributions of world-wid- e logistics. General Poe has set a personal goal of perfecting the Air Force Logistics Command to insure that our Air Force aerospace weapon systems are ready for action at top efficiency, said Maj. Gen. John Murphy, Ogden ALC commander at the time of the dedication.This always has been and always will be a job of tremenWright-Patterso- dous proportions. General Poe meets these challenges on a daily basis with a power of decision, sound judgment and personal drive that is an inspiration to each and every one of the AFLC team, military and civilian. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point. NX, in 1946, and completed Army Air Forces pilot training prior to graduation from the academy. During his long and distinguished career, Poe held numerous key positions including chief.
