It combines information previously obtained through the use of multiple forms and systems. The Air Force Resume was designed to provide all the information required for personnel specialists to quickly make referrals. It was also designed to incorporate the information provided in an appropriate format to utilize the new Air Force computer systems. The format enables the Optical Character Recognition in Resumix to read the maximum number of skills. The standard Air Force Resume format used makes the resume more scannable than other resumes. It incorporates specific font types and sizes to enhance the scanning process. The most effective font types and sizes are Times New Roman or Palatino, both in sizes. Standard typefaces such as Arial, Helvetica and Courier are acceptable, but may not produce the most scannable copy. The Air Force Resume can be typed using the Air Force Resume Writer or any word processing program, as long as the Air Force format is followed. Everything needed to create a resume is located 12-poi- nt in the Employee Handbook, which includes the Air Force Job Kit, additional job search information, frequently asked questions and sample resumes. The Employee Handbook is available at the Air Force Modern System Website: www.afpc.ran-dolph.af.mildpcMDCPDSmdcpds.ht- m The Handbook and Job Kit provide clear instructions on how to complete an Air writing AF resum Force Resume in the standard format. The resume is very easy to read. The format guidance produces a clean product with information grouped in sequence, such as personal information, skills summary, experience, formal education, train- ing, licenses, certificates, awards and other information. Remember to answer the five Ws and one H questions. Who did you work for? Where did you work? When did you work there? What specifically did you do? Why did you do that work? How did you do the work? Be specific, as the resume is limited to five pages. The new format requires shorter descriptions of work without all the flowery detail. Generally speaking, internal candidates include only experience that is relevant to their career goals. The resume should emphasize core skills, use action verbs and nouns that specifically describe the work and specify the specific aircraft, equipment, machinery or computer programs that were worked on or used. The KSAs knowledge, skills and abilities of employees current job description is an excellent starting point for preparing a resume. The key is to write one excellent resume and continually from it.
