Show 13 HiJStop; April 15, 1999 Sroyp plan food drive CGOA helps community The Company Grade Officers Association will collect food donations Saturday to help the Base fill the shelves of the recently started installation-wid-Chapel e food pantry. The collection will be held outside the Hill Commissary, Bldg. 400, from 7:30 a.m.-- 6 p.m. "The pantry provides emergency food assistance to needy Air Force personnel, their families and other persons as required," said Capt. Nathan Weir, CGOA president. "And unlike many food pantries I have seen, they are making an attempt to provide food that is nutritious and people will actually eat. They worked with dietary experts on base to develop a menu that will feed a typical family of four for a week." Food items requested are: Canned food chicken salad, chili con carne, corn, fruit, green beans, okra, sloppy Joe, soda soups, spinach, turnips greenscollards, white tuna, pork & CGOA 3-- 3:30-4:3- A variety of discussions and seminars will be held when Area Command Ogden hosts its 4th annual Customer Workshop, May 1 at the Ogden Marriott Hotel. Discussions will include the affect of the Year 2000 on computers, Internet and Web sites, security and costs. Col. Antionette Green, commander of Area Command Ogden, will provide the welcoming address. Breakout groups will conduct training and discuss issues pertaining to workloads. Attendees can sign up at the hotel on May 17 from 7 p.m., or May 18 from 7:30-8:4a.m. A block of rooms has been reserved at the hotel for attendees, and reservations must be made by May 1. CGOA is an Air Force affiliated club that meets to work on community service projects and to just have a good time. The bigger the organization, the more fun socials are and more we can accomplish on base and in the local community. We meet the first Friday of every month from 0 p.m. at the Officers Club. Community service activities scheduled include: Canned Food Booth at the ComSaturday missary to benefit base food pantry April 24 Special Olympics track and field at Northridge High School in Layton beans, artichokes Mixes Bisquick, Hamburger Helper, Jell-O- , Jiffy Cornbread, Top Shelf Dinner, instant pudding, macaroni and cheese Dry items rice, coffee, tea, cold cereal, hot cereal, pasta, pepper, powdered creamer, powdered milk fruit juice, ketchup, Miracle Whip, musLiquids tard, syrup, jelly, tomato sauce Pam cooking spray, garlic powCooking items der, granulated sugar, Convenience foods and snacks Pop Tarts, Pringles, Pre-packag- Special Olympics track and field at Utah State University in Logan June Special Olympics Summer Games at Brigham Young University, Provo. Events include track and field, soccer, softball, cycling, equestrian, and motor skills activities. Volunteers who are not company grade officers are welcome to help with the Special Olympics and other community service projects. Social activities planned are volleyball at Pineview Reservoir on May 15 and white water rafting and overnight camping June 19. A game of broom-bal- l ice hockey with brooms and no skates is being planned at the Ogden Ice Sheet. The next CGOA meeting will be May 7 at 3:30 p.m. at the Officers Club.
