He comes from a family full of teachets. attended Sam Houston State Teachers College and has a daughter now attending college. "Bright Promise" is shown Monday through Friday at 1:30 p.m. Dana, the third son of a Baptist minister from a small town in Mississippi, decided to quit his accounting job in 1931 and hitchhike to Los Angeles, in hopes of attaining a singing or acting career. Ht ended up getting a job as a gas station attendant. In 1935, two friends began to finance his singing career, and two years later an agent advised him to enter the Pasadena Playhouse. Beginning as a spear carrier in a Shakespearian production, lie built up to speaking parli and later U feature roles. 's In 1938, one of Samuel talent scouts saw Dana and signed him to a contract. His first film role for Goldwyn was a minor one in "The Westerner," which starred Gary Cooper. "A Man for All Seasons" and "The Odd Couple," and also has been seen on numerous top television shows. Dana's most recent films include "The Loved One," "In Harm's Way," "Satan Bug," "Battle of the Bulge," "Johnny Reno" and most recently, "Devil's Brigade." Dana is married to Mary Todd, whom he met at the Pasadena Playhouse. They reside in Studio City, California. Dana's favorite pastimes are photography and reading, and lie has recently ventured into the real estate business.
