An 1 x environmental advisement committee will be established by Provo Qty, consisting of experts in various disciplines such as ecology, geology, planning, and natural resources, which will give the City Commission recommendations relating environmental issues. The announcement was made Monday night at a regular meeting of the City Commission. Appointments to the committee are currently being considered and may be announced later this week. In other action, the City Commission approved a leas agreement with Utah Power and light Company permitting the city to use water from the South Fork of the Provo River. For any water used by the city which would otherwise be avaihble for use at the Olmstead flume and plant, the city agrees to either release stored water from Deer Creek Reservoir or pay $1.25 per acre-foo- t. The commission also approved a contract with the Bureau of Reclamation for reimbursement to the city of $57,350 for equipment installed at the city's Tanner Substation. The city receives power from the Colorado River Storage Project. The power is delivered to the Tanner Substation by Utah Power and Iigh Company lines. UP&L Beautification Committee Makes Plans in Mapieton required that certan equipment be installed which would not have been required had only government transmission lines been involved. The city conducted a similar campaign last year and sixty old Sylvia Gatton, chairman of the committee, has been attending county beautification meetings for the past three months. She reported to the group that the cointy has appropriated $3,000 to be divided among the cities of the county for prize money during the coming summer. The cities have been place in groups, according to their population, fur competition. Mapieton is in group 4, which includes Alpine, Lindon, Salem and Santaquin. The money will be used for both city prizes and individual awards. Details will be announced at a later date. Forkum is a nativs of the western Pennsylvania steel town of Donora. Orphaned at age 14, he lived with relatives in the Los Angeles area during his high school years. He holds a B.S.
