He was born Nov. 24, 1895 in Granger, a son of Alexander Joseph and Betsy Ann awden Hill. He married Thelma May Carlisle on June 27, 1923 in the Salt Lake IDS Temple. Active in the IDS Church, he served a mission in Northern California in 1918-2and served in the Oquirrh Stake Sunday School superintendency, and Granger Ward bishopric. He was a High Priest group leader for many years, and was an ordained temple worker. He was assistant superintendent of the North Jordan Canal Co. Surviving are his widow; three sons and a daughter, William J. Hill and Mrs. Richard A. (Ramona) Barker of Taylorsville; Jack E. Hill of Pleasant Grove; and A. Guy Hill of Granger; 13 grandchildren; and the following brothers and sisters, H. Earl and John D. Thursday 6-- Arthur Coombs Funeral Rites Set Tuesday - Provo Native Dies in Cedar at 86 Springville Man's Sister Calif. Former Coach OREM Adolph George Thurnau, 79, died Saturday at a local hospital. He resided at 776 W. 640 N. in Orem. He was born Feb. 5, 1892 in Craig, Missouri to August John and Almuth Weimers Thurnau. He married Mathilda Struem-ple- r Nov. 28, 1915 in Hebron, Neb. She died Sept. 28, 1935. He moved to Kiowa, Neb. in 1900 with his parents and attended the Bethlehem Lutheran School. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1906. He at- tended Concordia Teachers College at Seward, Neb. and was graduated in 1913. He taught school in Hastings, Neb. for several years before moving to a ranch in Davenport, Neb. in 1919. In 1936, he moved to Sanders, Ida., where he farmed until his retirement in 1966. At that time he moved to Greenacres, Wash, and lived with his daughter until 1970 when he moved to Orem to be near his son. He was a member of the Church in Hope Lutheran Greenacres. He is survived by one son and two daughters, Kenneth A. Thurnau, Orem; Mrs. La Verne Fifield, Greenacres; Mrs. J. J. of McCausland (Ruth) Lakeland, Fla.; six grandchildren.
